Manual Osteopathic Techniques

Manual osteopathic techniques are also offered in clinics like Charité Berlin (see https://hochschulambulanz-naturheilkunde.charite.de/leistungen/osteopathie/#c30582457) and are part of manual physical treatment methods like physiotherapy. A difference lies in the applied techniques. Another difference is that in manual osteopathic methods, the therapist makes an independent diagnosis. This leads to the treatment plan and treatment. In physiotherapy, for example, the therapist works in a medical auxiliary profession under the direction of a doctor or natural health professional who has the legal right to diagnose (health profession). In osteopathy, movement is sought.

If a joint, organ, or muscle moves differently than expected, the restriction is examined and, if necessary, referred to a specialist to rule out serious illnesses. If it is a functional limitation, it can be treated to improve function (blood circulation, neural control, positioning of the structure, improvement of metabolism in tissues and cells, etc.). As a result, improvements in movement and disappearance of symptoms are possible: pain reduction, better movement, improved function are possible with correct application.
